State/Local Cybersecurity Grants Authorized in November 2021 “Getting Close”

The guidelines for state and local cyber grants have yet to be published by the Department of Homeland Security, but New Hampshire CIO Denis Goulet has been told that the $1 billion program—authorized by legislation President Biden signed in November—is “getting close to the goal line.” The first $200 million of that is supposed to be distributed by the end of the fiscal year, less than a month from now, leading some to speculate that states will need an extension for the first year's grants.
