Special Feature: Top 25 USAID, State, CDC Recipients, Contractors, Small Businesses in 2024

The annual Top 25 article prepared by Bob Stross, former editor of the NGO Financial Newsletter, will be his last as he heads off to retirement. In the 2024 report, Bob identifies several trends that diverge from the usual big getting bigger. Those troubled by USAID’s over-reliance on UN and other PIOs may find the numbers even more concerning as State handed over $1 billion to IOM. Assistance awards have fallen in 2024, primarily due to a drop-off of humanitarian assistance after huge demands and awards in 2022/23. The real concern is the small and medium-sized entities that represent the diversity and strength of the sector. Interesting time ahead.
