Senators Express Concerns about DOE Cybersecurity Readiness

A bipartisan group of senators led by Senators Angus Kind (I-ME) and Jim Risch (R-ID) have raised concerns about the cybersecurity readiness of the Department of Energy, one of nine federal agencies hit by the SolarWinds attack. In a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, a group of nine senators urge DOE to maintain the current the leadership of the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response (CESER), to ensure that the department can respond to security threats such as those targeting the electrical grid. CESER was established in 2018 by Secretary Rick Perry, and Granholm has committed to keeping it.
