Senate Still Divided on Comprehensive Data Privacy Legislation

Members of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee appear to agree with recent testimony urging the passage of comprehensive federal data privacy legislation and with much of the substance of the proposed law, but some disagreement about the details of implementation and enforcement remain. Committee chair Roger Wicker (R-MS) and ranking member Maria Cantwell (D-WA) have each introduced legislation with the backing of other members of their respective parties.
