Senate Hearing Considers CMMC, and Ability to Stop a SolarWinds-Type Attack

During a recent hearing of the Senate Armed Services Cybersecurity Subcommittee, lawmakers heard testimony about the Department of Defense's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification and whether CMMC could stop an attack like the SolarWinds breach.  Rear Admiral William Chase, the deputy principal cyber advisor to the Secretary of Defense, told senators that CMMC compliance wouldn't necessarily stop an attack like the SolarWinds campaign, but it could enable detection of one, such as the use of tools involved in CMMC Level 5 certification.
