Senate Bill Would Give FTC New Data Breach Authority

The Data Breach Prevention and Compensation Act introduced by Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Mark Warner (D-VA) would not only identify credit reporting agencies as a special class of businesses subject to substantial fines for failing to protect consumer information, it would also put them under greater regulatory scrutiny.
