Remote Work Remains a Risk
A recent article in the Washington Post describes how a local public official worked two jobs simultaneously while collecting both full-time salaries. The piece reminds us that remote work is vulnerable to dual-employment schemes (“double-dipping”).
The article details how the official showed up on Mondays and Fridays at one job, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the other job. Both positions paid six-figure salaries. She also worked part-time as an elected member of a city council. As several commenters observed, the supervisors may have also been absent to let this happen.
