Regulatory Czar Eyes Agency Guidance
Neomi Rao, head of the Office for Information and Regulatory Affairs says the administration has ambitious plans for deregulation in 2018, including efforts to sweep independent federal agencies into her office's purview and to crack down on the “sub-regulatory” guidance–such as guidance documents and FAQs–provided to corporate compliance professionals. “By cracking down on sub-regulatory guidance… we’re ensuring that when agencies impose new requirements, they’re following administrative procedures, and giving the public notice and opportunity to comment,” Rao explained.
