Proposed Amendments to Bayh-Dole Act Regulations Tweak Rights to Inventions Made Using Federal Assistance

Earlier this month, the National Institute of Standards and Technology issued proposed changes to the implementing regulations of the Patent and Trademark Law Amendments Act of 1980, which permits a recipient of federal funds to retain ownership of inventions conceived or first brought to practice by its personnel in the performance of a government-funded project.
