One Thousand Federal Contractors Get Labor Dept. Audit Notice

The Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs has mailed 1,000 letters to federal contractor establishments, advising recipients to prepare for audits.

The Corporate Scheduling Announcement Letters are a courtesy to contractor establishments, letting them know they’ve been selected by the Federal Contractor Selection System to be evaluated for compliance with federal equal employment opportunity laws. They give the recipients an opportunity to self-audit.

The Labor Dept. web site lists some criteria it used for selection, such as caps on the number of establishments of a single contractor that will be placed on the scheduling list (no more than 10), and the minimum time between audits of a given establishment (at least five years). These caps are a change from the Obama administration, which removed the more flexible caps previously placed by the Bush administration.
