OMB Directs Agencies to Consolidate Shipping Services Under New DoD Contract

On Thursday, OMB directed federal agencies to cease using individual shipping contracts and instead utilize a new governmentwide contract administered by the Department of Defense for the majority of their small package deliveries. The new mandate to consolidate the government’s shipping bills under DoD’s Next Generation Delivery Services contract is “effective immediately,” but the agreement the department negotiated with major package shippers doesn’t actually take effect until Oct.
