OIG: DLA Can Improve Its Processes for Obtaining Restitution For Defective Spare Parts
A new report from the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General found that DLA Land and Maritime did not adequately process product quality deficiency reports or pursue appropriate restitution for a projected 267 contracts for which contractors provided defective parts. This occurred because DLA Land and Maritime lacked oversight and controls to ensure that its logistics operations and acquisition personnel requested restitution, identified and returned defective parts, and tracked the status of returns.
