Odebrecht Case Delays M&A Deals

The massive corruption scandal involving Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht is slowing numerous merger and acquisition deals, as the firm seeks to sell off some holdings to raise cash. For example, last year Odebrecht agreed to sell the Chaglla hydro power facility in Peru, but the $1.4 billion deal has yet to close because the Peruvian government has not yet determined how much money Odebrecht keeps and how much will be paid to the government.
