New FTC Powers Weighed in Senate Data Privacy Hearing

The Senate Commerce Committee debated recently how much authority to give the Federal Trade Commission to regulate data privacy practices, such as whether to give the agency increased powers, while pre-empting state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act.
