Legislation Would Elevate Federal CIO, Codify Federal CISO
Legislation introduced in the House would strengthen the role of federal chief information officers and establish a new chain of command for top IT officials. Introduced by Representatives Will Hurd (R-TX) and Robin Kelly (D-IL), the Federal CIO Authorization Act of 2018 would make the federal CIO a presidential appointee who would report directly to the director of the Office of Management and Budget.
