Huawei and Subsidiaries Charged in Racketeering Conspiracy and Conspiracy to Steal Trade Secrets
A 16-count superseding indictment charges Huawei Technologies and subsidiaries in the U.S. and China with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, and conspiracy to steal trade secrets through a “long-running practice of using fraud and deception to misappropriate sophisticated technology from U.S. counterparts.” The subsidiaries are Huawei Device Co. Ltd., Huawei Device USA Inc., Futurewei Technologies Inc., and Skycom Tech Co. Ltd. Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Wanzhou Meng is also named in the indictment. The indictment adds to charges filed in January 2019.
