Federal Data Center Enhancement Act Would Set Standards for Cybersecurity and Resilience for Agency Systems

The Federal Data Center Enhancement Act—introduced in the Senate by Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Gary Peters (D-MI), and John Cornyn (R-TX)—would require the Office of Management and Budget to develop minimum requirements for new federal data centers “that meet high standards for cybersecurity, resiliency, availability and sustainability.” These standards would specify up-time percentages, data security protections, and defenses against power failures, physical intrusions, and natural disasters.
