EU Adopts Digital Services Act

On October 4, 2022, the EU adopted the Digital Services Act (“DSA”), which imposes new rules on providers of intermediary services (e.g., cloud services, file-sharing services, search engines, social networks and online marketplaces). The DSA will now be signed into law by the President of the European Parliament and by the President of the Council, following which it will be published in the Official Journal of the EU and it will start applying 15 months (and 20 days) after its publication ― probably in Q1 of January 2024.
