DOJ Promises Not to Prosecute Good-Faith Hackers under CFAA

The Justice Department has announced that it will no longer charge ethical hackers with violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which—interpreted literally—prohibits any unauthorized attempt to circumvent computer security, even with an altruistic intent and outcome.
