Diagnostic Lab to Pay $16 Million over Allegations of Billing for Medically Unnecessary Tests

Inform Diagnostics of Boston—formerly known as Miraca Life Sciences, and now owned by Fulgent Genetics—has agreed to a $16 million settlement over allegations it routinely conducted additional tests on biopsy specimens without determining if they were medically necessary, and billed Medicare and other federal programs for those tests.
