Cyber Experts Propose to Congress that CISA Become Federal CISO

At a House Homeland Security Committee hearing in response to the SolarWinds breaches, cybersecurity expert Dmitri Alperovich suggested that CISA should be set “on a path to becoming the operational CISO, or chief information security officer, of the civilian federal government.” Alperovich argued that most federal agencies will never have the wherewithal to defend themselves against actors such as Russia and China, and should be encouraged to use secured shared services offered by CISA.
