Contractors Acquitted of Rigging Bids to Produce Army Swag
Law360 – Three business owners who produce customized promotional merchandise have been cleared of charges they conspired to rig bids to supply the U.S. Army with items to use for recruitment and retention purposes.
Lawrence O’Brien, Bruce LaRoche, and Thomas Dailey each own one or more merch-producing companies, and were accused of coordinating bids for promotional products supplied to the Army from 2014 to 2019. They maintained their innocence, and following the verdict one of their defense attorneys commented that “the evidence was lacking to prove our clients’ guilt.” Another said “the prosecution’s case was built on such a shaky foundation of unsupported assumptions and unanswered questions.”
