FAR Overhaul – Part 2, Definitions of Words and Terms

The FAR Council has issued the FAR Overhaul changes to Part 2, Definitions of Words and Terms. The model deviations to the other FAR parts resulted in changes to the definitions of words and terms. Some definitions were either revised, removed, or transferred to other parts of the FAR. All other definitions in Part 2 remain unchanged. Agencies are not required to issue a separate deviation to Part 2 because these changes are already addressed in previously issued model deviations.

The Council revised the definitions for some of the following terms: commercial product, commercial services, micro-purchase, offer, offeror, purchase order, and United States. The following terms were removed: environmentally preferable, sustainable acquisitions, and waste reduction.
