DBAI Waiver for Ukraine Extended Two Years

The Defense Base Act (DBA) Insurance waiver for employees in Ukraine has been extended for two years.

  • This means that Ukrainian employees working under U.S. government contracts are exempt from DBA coverage requirements.
  • The waiver does not extend to U.S. citizens or residents and the employee must be covered by local workers’ compensation insurance. The local insurance must provide benefits for work-related injuries or death without cost to the employee.
  • In short, the extended waiver ensures that local employees are protected under Ukrainian laws, while U.S. contractors are relieved from the DBA’s requirements, provided they comply with local insurance regulations.
