Boeing to Pay $8.1 Million to Resolve Allegations it Lied to Navy about Manufacturing Checks
Department of Justice – The aerospace contractor has settled allegations it violated the FCA in contracts to manufacture a speciality aircraft for the U.S. Navy.
From 2007 to 2018, Boeing allegedly failed to comply with certain specifications for fabricating composite components for the V-22 Osprey, a tiltrotor military aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Boeing was required to perform monthly testing on autoclaves used in the process of curing the composite materials using in manufacturing the craft, and the DOJ maintains it failed to perform that task, as well as failing to comply with additional testing requirements.
