UK DCMS Outlines Plans to Replace GDPR While Retaining Data Adequacy

Michelle Donelan, the United Kingdom's new Secretary of State of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), has announced plans to replace the EU's GDPR with the UK’s own “business and consumer-friendly, British data protection system.” The announcement opened Donelan’s speech to the 2022 Conservative Party Conference, which focussed on the Government’s plans to create more wealth and success through the tech, cyber, digital, creative, cultural and arts sectors.
