The Importance of Line-of-Sight to Ethics and Compliance

Michael Volkov argues that ethics and compliance professionals are in the perfect position to deal with the constantly evolving risk environment, describing them as “subject-matter-experts when it comes to identifying risks, and most importantly, ranking risks within a consistent, analytical framework.” However, to do this, the compliance professional needs to establish and maintain “line-of-sight” across the organization, with the ability to observe and learn about the activities of every component of the organization, usually at the “C-suite” level.
