US Government Publishes Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Enforcement Strategy

On June 21, 2022, the key provision of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act took effect, introducing a “rebuttable presumption” that any goods mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, or produced by certain entities connected to Xinjiang, were produced using forced labor and therefore prohibited from importation into the US by virtue of Section 307 of the Tariff Act 1930.
