Not Rocket Science: Whistleblower and Propulsion Systems Manufacturer Reach Agreement in Cyber Fraud False Claims Act Case
A former senior director of cybersecurity, compliance, and controls for Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc. has settled with the company in a non-intervened cyber fraud False Claims Act case, the first such case to settle right before a jury trial. The allegations hold that Aerojet Rocketdyne failed to comply with government cybersecurity requirements for protecting unclassified information as part of government contracts, and lied about its policies to win more contracts, then experienced data breaches during 2014-2015. In general, failure to comply with cybersecurity requirements material to government contracts, and then submitting invoices to the government for payment under these contracts, constitutes false claims.
