Connecticut General Assembly Passes Comprehensive Privacy Bill

Connecticut is preparing the become the fifth state with comprehensive data privacy laws, with the legislature's passage of “An Act Concerning Personal Data Privacy and Online Monitoring.” Among other state laws, it is most similar to the Colorado Privacy Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, and Utah Consumer Privacy Act, using similar definitions for “controller,” “processor,” and “personal data.” Most of its provisions will go into effect in July 2023 if the governor signs it or fails to block it.
