Senate Consents to National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium Act

The Senate has approved the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium Act by unanimous consent, authorizing DHS to work with a consortium of university-based training programs specializing in incident response and prevention, and other nonprofit consortia to develop, update, and deliver cybersecurity training in support of homeland security. The agency is to consider organizations’ prior experience, geographic diversity, and results-based metrics when determining which to collaborate with.

The bill was previously passed by the Senate last year, but was amended before it passed the House last month; this vote by the Senate approves the House version, and President Biden’s signature is expected.
