Biden Administration Establishes Cyber Safety Review Board
The Department of Homeland Security has established the Cyber Safety Review Board called for by President Biden’s cybersecurity executive order. It is a public-private partnership of up to 20 experts – 15 appointed at this time – who will assess and report on major cyberattacks and recommend improvements in cybersecurity, analogous to the role of the National Transportation Safety Board in reviewing aviation accidents.
Its first assignment is to investigate the Log4j software library vulnerability. The board will be exempted from some transparency regulations, and its members will likely need to have security clearances, due to the sensitive nature of the information they will be reviewing.
