U.S. Sues University of Pittsburgh Hospital, Doctor over Billing for “Concurrent Surgeries”

Following a two-year investigation of a whistleblower report, the DOJ has filed an FCA suit against the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, its physician group, and the head of its cardiothoracic surgery department, alleging that they submitted hundreds of materially false claims for payment to federal health programs over six years.
