Biden Issues Anti-Corruption Memo to Federal Agencies
President Biden has issued a memo directing more than a dozen federal agencies to elevate anti-corruption measures as a central foreign policy and national security issue, and to submit plans by December to do so. In issuing the memorandum, Biden specifically established corruption as a core United States national security interest.
The memo follows through on a commitment Biden made during the 2020 campaign to combat corruption, and directs top White House advisors to develop strategies to boost the government’s fight against corruption, including increasing accountability for individuals and organizations who conduct illicit financing, developing global anti-corruption norms, and establishing partnerships with the private sector.
