Foreign Bribery Enforcement on Track for Record-Breaking Year

The Justice Department reports that its enforcement of the FCPA has reached an all-time high, imposing about $7.76 billion in penalties globally. The prior year saw penalties of about $2.83 billion world-wide. A large portion of those fines were paid to foreign counterparts in other countries, underscoring a trend toward increased international cooperation; about $3.21 billion of it was paid to the U.S, with $2.25 billion of that specifically to the DOJ.
