Senators Demand More Details on VA Breach

Several Senate Democrats are demanding more information about the Department of Veterans Affairs’ cybersecurity practices following the disclosure that a breach exposed data on 46,000 veterans. The senators claim the breach also affected 17,000 healthcare providers,  and question why this was not mentioned in VA’s report on the incident. The agency said the breach affected fewer than 20 providers. Malicious actors gained access to a Financial Services Center application and diverted VA payments intended for community healthcare providers and money used to provide medical treatment to veterans.
