Pandemic Duties for National Guard Include Cyber Help

In March, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan called in the National Guard to help with COVID-19 tests and screening, but also with cybersecurity assessments. Just a year earlier, a ransomware attack crippled the Baltimore city government’s networks, and Colonel Reid Novotny of the Maryland Guard reports that the city has recently seen similar cyber threats “that have affected hospitals that are treating COVID patients.”
