UK Supervisory Authority Issues Statement on Data Protection and Coronavirus

The Information Commissioner's Office, the United Kingdom's GDPR supervisory authority, has issued a statement on data protection and COVID-19, making it clear that the ICO will take a “reasonable and pragmatic” approach regarding compliance with the GDPR in light of the current health emergency and will not “penalise organisations that … need to prioritise other areas or adapt their usual approach during this extraordinary period." This statement is similar to one issued by the Irish supervisory authority.
