DOD Contractor Suffers Ransomware Infection

The company has not publicly acknowledged it, but Electronic Warfare Associates, an electronics company and regular contractor for the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice, has been infected by the Ryuk ransomware. Several of the companies web servers were reportedly among the systems that had data encrypted in the incident. It is unclear how much of the company’s internal network was affected. Ryuk is a type of ransomware solely used in targeted attacks on high-profile companies.
