How the NIST Framework is Leading a Cybersecurity Transformation for Federal Agencies
Founded as the National Bureau of Standards to improve American competitiveness in the Industrial Revolution, the National Institute of Standards and Technology now helps to lead advancements in computer chips, software, robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, nanotechnology, and cybersecurity.
The NIST Cybersecurity Framework sets standards for what it calls its “framework core” activities and objectives, which gives organizations a strategic view of the process lifecycle and allows allows mapping to other industry frameworks. It establishes a common language to managing risk, and focuses on business drivers to guide cybersecurity activities.
