New DOD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Creates New Cyber Enforcement Mechanism

DOD has announced a new cybersecurity standard and certification for defense contractors called the "Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification." This will act as an enforcement mechanism for the current Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement requirement that contractors handling sensitive unclassified information should protect it in accordance with the 110 security controls laid out by NIST Special Publication 800-171.
