Help Wanted: States Hire Pros to Manage, Protect Data

More states are adding chief privacy officers and chief data officers to help manage privacy issues and data across numerous state-level agencies and advise on methods for complying with new privacy laws. Twenty states, plus the District of Columbia, have a chief data officer, and seven states—Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Ohio, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia—have a chief privacy officer.
