U.S. May Soon Claim up to $1.7 Billion Penalty from ZTE

The Commerce Department may apply a penalty of as much as $1.7 billion to ZTE, as it looks to punish and tighten control over the Chinese telecommunications company, in lieu of crippling it with a seven-year ban on sales of US components to the company.
