Health Services Provider Will Pay $2.5 Million for Losing Laptop

Wireless health services provider CardioNet will pay $2.5 million to settle HIPAA violations based on the theft of an unprotected employee laptop, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights announced.
